Lead Veterinarian & Co-Founder: Doctor Heidi Clinical oversight, standards, and how Vetelemed™ works
Doctor Heidi profile photo

Doctor Heidi is a co-founder of Vetelemed™ and the Lead Veterinarian responsible for clinical oversight, medical standards, compliance, and onboarding of new doctors (including the provider-facing workflow and tools used on the platform). She also sees patients through the Vetelemed™ platform and may operate her private practice alongside her leadership role.

At Vetelemed™, our standard of care is shaped by the same principles as an in-person clinic: careful history-taking, thoughtful case evaluation, and clear guidance. Our goal is to support pet owners with convenient, ethical, and medically sound telemedicine.

Dr. Heidi has a strong small-animal background and a passion for clear client communication. For more about her qualifications and approach, please see her bio on the About page. Telemedicine is ideal for non-emergency questions, rechecks, behavior concerns, and helping you decide whether your pet needs an in-person exam.

Telemed does not replace hands-on care. When your pet needs a physical exam, diagnostic testing, or emergency treatment, Our Team of Doctors will direct you to a local clinic or emergency hospital.

  • Experienced small-animal veterinarian.
  • Low-stress, clear communication focused on pet and owner comfort.
  • Works with local pharmacies and clinics when in-person care is needed.

Where We Provide Care Nationwide consultations; prescriptions where licensed

Where We Provide Care

Vetelemed™ provides online veterinary telemedicine consultations for pet owners across the United States.

Prescription medications may be prescribed only in states where a Vetelemed™ veterinarian is licensed, in accordance with state and federal regulations. At this time, prescription services are available in Arizona. Additional states will be added as our veterinary team grows.

If you’re searching for a veterinarian near me, emergency vet, or 24 hour vet, online veterinary telemedicine can provide fast guidance and help you determine whether your pet needs immediate in-person emergency care.

FAQ Telemedicine questions and prescription rules

FAQ

Can you prescribe medication through telemedicine?

Prescription medications may be prescribed when a valid veterinary-client-patient relationship (VCPR) is established and when permitted by state law. Currently, prescription services are available in Arizona. We are expanding to additional states as licensed veterinarians join our platform.

Not sure if telemedicine is enough?

That’s exactly what an online veterinary consultation is for. If your pet needs hands-on care, diagnostic testing, or emergency treatment, our veterinarians will clearly tell you so and direct you appropriately.

Veterinary telemedicine works best for early concerns, follow-ups, and guidance — giving pet owners clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
